Mel Henderson, Jr. 

One of the brightest guitarists of his generation, Melvin Henderson will soon be releasing his debut album on Trier Records. Over the past 3 decades he has performed and recorded with some of contemporary music’s finest musicians including Al Jarreau, Dr Lonnie Smith, Joe Locke, Randy Brecker, Wycliffe Gordon, Marcus Printup, JD Allen, Jeremy Pelt, Ted Poor, Jack McDuff, Tommy Campbell, Wilby Fletcher, Fred Wesley and David “Fathead” Newman. Henderson’s playing has been applauded in publications worldwide, including JazzWeek and AllaboutJazz.

He has toured extensively in the U.S., Europe and Canada, performing at some of the best national and international Jazz festivals including the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival, Salzburger Jazz Herbst, Markham, Newport and Paetec Jazz Festival as well as at renowned venues such as the Blue Note clubs in New York and Tokyo and the Bee Hive in Boston.

Henderson is a member of the Grammy-nominated band Paradigm Shift. He is on the faculty of Rochester Contemporary School of Music and is a sought after clinician. Henderson attended Berklee College of Music and currently resides in Western New York.
